I wanted a generic sci-fi icon and I stumbled on pelz's flickr and found hundreds and hundreds of wonderful old sci-fi book and magazine covers and then the icons grew!

My stocking for this year is up. And could do with some ':'s scattered in it and I've probably got some names wrong too:s My stocking doesn't look as big as I thought it would either, so that's something. I thought I was being mega-greedy this year! But, no, I am a model of restraint...ish;p

I've done a couple of wee stocking fillers already. Fandom Stocking is a nice challenge because you don't have to do anything if you don't want to and it's a easy way to be creative. I was feeling drained of creativity last week but doing a couple of icons made me feel better. Even noting down a few recs and finding some pics to post feels good too.

If you haven't put up a stocking you've got until Dec 14th.

I've also joined in luxos' multi-fandom friending meme:) I don't know how much response I'll get with a meme that has the question 'Fave new TV shows?' though;p

Stockings are being put up over on Fandom Stocking on Dreamwidth including mine! Or as I like to call it 'War and Peace'. It may be long, but it's nicely set out if nothing else, if I do say so myself. I hope it doesn't come across as bossy or greedy. I was trying to be helpful and give people enough ideas to work with. Reading other stockings I am even more aware than usual how utterly obscure I am even in my "big" fandoms, *sigh*. Oh and if you're wondering why I put "no p0rn" when I said your fic was hot I did it to save the hassle of the whole likes and dislikes thing.

I might try writing a character I haven't written before or I might just stick to pics of doors (Yes! The door requester is back:D). Feeling uninspired today so I've been bookmarking stockings that might reach back and hit me later.

Oh and sign-ups don't close until the 13th if you want a stocking of your own.
liadtbunny: (DW 4 & Leela)
J&L fic! So popular there are very few fics. I don't know why there aren't more fics as they're quite easy characters to handle and I only used a thesaurus a couple times. The plotting is the tricky bit - my first attempt failed because my baddie was unbeatable.

'Tis is the season to be greedy and my stocking entry for [community profile] fandom_stocking is hung up over here. You still have time to submit your own stocking wishlist (Dec 18th).

Callan fic would be nice if highly unlikely. I think I should have put, "Write something or else I'll do Callan in jail!" instead of ideas. I put normal requests too like DW, B7 and cake!fic.

Most amusing stocking so far: the one with a love of picture of doors.

I've done some fills as well: an icon, a ficlet, some recs and pics. I'm in the midst of writing something which isn't for my health either.

Memed from [personal profile] lost_spook:

Give me a topic, and at some point in the next few weeks I'll ramble about it. It can be anything from fandom-related (TV shows, books, computer games) to life-related (aspirations, identity, political beliefs) to pizza preferences to whatever you want.

My rambles will probably be brief, or not, depending on the subject.

Also, I reserve the right to decline prompts that I don't feel equipped to meet [ha, ha, a get out of jail free card -LB]. Topics: you can get an idea from my tags/my stories/the stuff I usually babble about/from things you maybe wish I talked about more but don't.

I thought I'd update the DW side of my journal for once and use the lovely icon eve11 had made for me, over on lj.

Just in time for bonfire night and for me to realise I'd called a character Elizabeth Taylor! A pyre does feature, but are there any flames?

Title: Early and Late (1522 words)

Author: Liadt
Fandom: Ace of Wands, C17th RPF
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Only if you squint a lot
Characters: Mr Stabs, Luko, Matthew Hopkins (Witchfinder General)
Additional Tags: English witchtrials, mid-1600's, spin off, stupid accusations, mild violence, not much threat
Summary: Mr Stabs finds himself on trial for being a witch. Unlike everybody else he does serve Satan. After all, he has met him.

I did some research in to fashions of 1647 and found this website: The 1640's Picturebook, which is well worth a look. I'm half minded to do some C16th woodcut icons.
liadtbunny: (DC Housecoat)

I've been watching World Without End and now it's finished I've made icons to get over the lack of a weekly dose of mediaeval misery and frustration. Not as good as Pillars of the Earth but I feel more fannish about it. Maybe because PotE had a much more satisfactory ending for all the characters, WWoE was more "Is that it then?" I've got the book out and hope Follet has written a better ending.

liadtbunny: (Dragons)

These icons are simple crops made using cover art from Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series, but anyone who likes dragons can use them. I myself don't read the books work anymore. Steve Weston's artwork is still great though, dragons in a spaceship! Also included are icons made from David Fairbrother Roe's artwork whose interpretation of pernese dragons are different but worth looking at too. And Micheal Whelan for old times sake.
